Today was the first time I took off on a plane alone, landing in Budapest, Hungary! I am here to be part of a training called «Active Citizenship Lab» offered by EYP’s international office.
We are 30 young people selected from all over the European Union who are looking to learn about how to encourage civic participation but mostly youth-oriented.
It has been a seven-day experience with a very busy schedule. Talks, dynamics, conferences and presentations by the trainers have made these days a very special event.
It is true that I have always been interested in participation in politics, and that there is more and more talk that we are a generation unconcerned and uninterested in issues like these, but these days I have learned that this is not so. That there are many young people who strive to help their community and seek to leave a better place than where they came from. I have seen a group of young people aware of their capacity and the power of their actions seeking to take the initiative to solve current, real and urgent problems.
It has been a very enriching week that has given me the tools to learn how to improve my own projects and those that come in the future. But it has also allowed me to better delineate my professional future.
The ACL has been a key piece to learn how to lead, manage and direct a project to success. I hope to be able to apply all these skills very soon.
