Cleaning of the Manises river

Near my institute, located in Manises, there is a river that since it has been urbanized in the vicinity has problems of illegal dumping of waste. This is causing difficulties to the flora but especially fauna in that area.

A group of students and neighbors have carried out a cleanup of the most accessible area of the riverbed, which is usually the most affected by this waste. It is incredible how much we have removed from such a small area. Plastic chairs, tires, rockers, expired medicines, glass bottles, meters and meters of cables….

This alone has made me reflect on how much we respect the place we live in. Our consumption habits are causing a huge impact all over the planet and even on our doorstep and we are choosing to look the other way.

As it has always been said «we will reap what we sow», i.e. poor soil, polluted water and spaces full of debris.

We just have to respect the place where we live and act accordingly.
