We have always been told that English is very important… On this trip I have been able to prove it.
Determined to study abroad next year, I had the opportunity to do a two-week trial period in a small town in Ireland. During this period I have been staying with an Irish family as well as with two exchange girls; a German and a Romanian. A house with six young people, two adults, a dog and a cat… it sounds hectic but I have never been in such an organized house.
The experience has been a linguistic immersion in which young people from all over the world (but mostly Europe) have attended English classes in the morning and enjoyed activities in the environment during the afternoons. These have included hiking trails, cycling, kayaking, cooking classes, volleyball games… all while meeting more and more new people.
For the first time I was able to put English into practice and I have to admit that I was not bad at it. And although the sporting and culinary part was very good, I have to admit that I enjoyed getting to know a new culture much more.
